how to own MORE books for LESS money // + our very first giveaway!!!

We bookdragons love the library.

Why wouldn’t we? I mean, it’s an incredible selection of books for absolutely no cost (unless, you know, you don’t turn it in on time). Seems like the perfect deal to me! I’ve even written a post about the glory of the library and why it should NEVER EVER DIE.

But, dream with me for a minute. Once in a while, we just really want a book that doesn’t have bent flaps or random scribbles or pages stained with unknown fluids. We want a book that is clean and beautiful and ALL OURS PLEASE. How cool would it be to have all those pretty books on one shelf??? cough @paperfury cough

Unfortunately, neither you nor I can spend all our money on these little paper treasure troves.* We need more than just the tears we cry after the death of our favorite characters to survive. So, logically, the only solution we have is to… get CHEAP OR FREE BOOKS.

But where, praytell, do we get these inexpensive books? Wellll, you can find all of that info right here, and maybe even win a free book of your own from our very first giveaway! LET’S GET STARTED, FRIENS.

how to widen your vocabulary WITHOUT reading books // learn new words (and actually remember them!)

Ever watch old BBC shows and wonder, huh, I wonder why we don’t talk like that anymore?

We’re in 2018 — a year where the words ‘lit,’ ‘slay,’ and ‘fleek’ are used on the daily and generally accepted by the public. Maybe it’s just the fact that I have no idea what those words mean, but it’s in my highly esteemed opinion that we should be using much better vocabulary than we do now.

We do tend to disregard ‘old fashioned’ words in favor of simpler ones nowadays, but there is a lot of charm and class associated with those words. Not to mention, they’re super useful to use as a writer. They make you look like a clever and educated author, even if you’re 99.89% sure you have no idea what on earth you’re doing. SO VOCABULARY IS HELPFUL TO ALL OF US.

It’s hard to find where to start when it comes to learning more of the English language, but lucky for you, I’ve already made a handy-dandy list of ways to begin! So pull up a chair. Grab a dictionary and a journal. We’ll be speaking like the King James Bible in no time!!

Well, not that fancy. People will begin mistaking ‘thine’ for ‘Vine’ and the world will explode. Maybe just stick to obscure words…

best (SELF-CARE) day ever!! // 10 ½ stress-relieving activities for creatives

Time is so limited nowadays.

I don’t know what happened, but somewhere over the past few years time has suddenly evaporated from under me, especially as a creative. Maybe it’s the digital age we’re in, all the things I have to do now, or maybe it’s just that I have a different perspective than I used to. But time really flies by.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the cycle of eat→school→work→sleep→repeat that we forget to take care of ourselves… which can be described as a one-way ticket to Burnout Avenue. Yuck.

ENTER THIS POST. Since we need a little break every so often but rarely ever seem to ‘have the time,’ I went looking for day-long things to do to give that creative energy a leg-up. And so this handy-dandy list was born! Here are ten activities that’ll nurture your creative soul while giving you a much-needed break.

How To Find Blogging & Writing Inspiration – Turning Real Life Into Brilliant Ideas!

The most commonly asked question to authors and bloggers is ‘Where do you find your inspiration?’

I have always answered something along the lines of ‘I don’t know, everywhere,‘ or ‘the world around me.’ But I know my readers. You expect more than that lame cop-out answer, don’t you? You certainly deserve more than that.

With April’s Camp Nanowrimo sneaking around the corner, a lot of us writers are scrambling for that perfect idea, or just an idea in general.* And not to mention, planning for all those days you need to schedule posts while you’re writing…

Don’t freak out! Sure, it’s a lot we’re about to dive into this month, but you can come up with awesome ideas before April 1st, both for your blog posts and your novel. Don’t believe me?

You can, and you will.
